
Beth Hart, a Los Angeles native is a blues-influenced vocalist and former street performer. In 1995 she made her public debut in the music industry with Immortal. Her outspoken style and her innate musicianship attracted the attention of many in addition to her emotional live performances and voice that was likened to Janis Joplin. Chuck Taylor, Billboard's October 2, 1999 issue, stated that Hart is "the perfect example of a natural woman," and described her as "bawdy and funny, chatty with her use of spiced languages, and free-wheeling." But that's not the real thing about her. She's an elegant, tall singer/songwriter who struts and squalls songs with the energy and vigor that is Mick Jagger . Other occasions, she is at the piano or at the center stage with no formality. The legs of her are crossed to the edge of the chair and she speaks in a delicate, pained voice. Hart was a teen who took part in amateur contests and also experienced the same reactions. But she still had doubts about the music business when she first began the professional path. Hart dropped her band after performing around the world proved be detrimental. Hart was forced to quit the public for nearly four years. Hart spent this time looking into her soul, writing music and battling personal issues. After that, determined to give her professional career a second chance Hart returned to the scene in 1999, releasing the acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper which showed Hart's songwriting talents grow through honest, vulnerable tunes about confronting life's struggles.
