Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada. She is American. She has produced over 20 albums of studio work. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk rock and alternative rock although it includes influences from punk funk hip beat and jazz. Ani Difranco has been deemed to be a feminist legend and Grammy award-winning. In the beginning, as one of the first female artists in the 1990s, DiFranco founded her own label. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in the city of Buffalo in New York. She is the daughter of Elizabeth (Ross), who came across Dante Americo DiFranco while studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was of Italian origin as was her mother originally from Montreal. Her song 32 Flavors was written by her and is performed by Ani. The track was released on her album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in 1995. The song is featured in the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic drama Better Than Chocolate from 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013 when it was announced that she would be hosting an event for three days at a Louisiana slave plantation. She cancelled it but many (including the author of this article) were not able to sense any regret. DiFranco issued another apology several days afterwards. While she's best known as Little Folksinger, her music includes a wide range of types. The collaborators she has with her range from Pete Seeger and Chuck D to Prince. New Orleans is her home. Ani was born Kristen Ford. Within 14 years, she had begun making her own songs. They were played in caf s and bars through her teenage years. DiFranco began attending Buffalo State College when she was 16 and a half years old. She earned her degree from in the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts at that age. The baritone Ani plays is an individualized Alvarez guitar that was made after several meetings with Chrys the Alvarez artist representative during the time. The guitar is equipped with their System 600 preamp and has all solid woods--a cedar top mahogany back and sides, and an ebony fretboard. Her residence is New Orleans. There she lives with her husband, two children and her long-legged sidekick Lefty. DiFranco admits she's ambivalent about the idea to look at her work retrospectively, even though it's been three decades. Ani DiFranco, a writer and musician from the punk/folk genre, was only 25 when she released her 7th album Not A Pretty Girl and achieved even more success in the public through Dilate. "Brandy" (You're A Fine Girl) by American Pop Rock band Looking Glass is from the album Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie, the lead guitarist of Looking Glass and co-vocalist wrote the track.
